Kaiser baseball team brings down first-place Patriot, 6-5

The red-hot Kaiser High School baseball team pulled off a thrilling 6-5 victory over first-place Patriot in a Sunkist League game last week.
The Cats are in second place in the league standings with an 11-2 record, 18-5 overall. Patriot, a CIF powerhouse with a 22-2 record, suffered its first league loss.
Coach Mike Spinuzzi's team captured its sixth straight victory, and its 15th win in the past 16 games.
Patriot took a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning, but Kaiser rallied with three runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth.
Zack Tapia went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Benjamin Ortiz was 2-for-2 and scored a run, and Troy Barrud singled for the Cats.
Tapia earned the pitching victory, allowing four hits and striking out six batters.
IN AN earlier game, the Cats conquered Norte Vista, 4-0, thanks to the strong pitching of Ernie Rodriguez.
Marcos Ramos went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs, while Frankie Valenzuela, Micheal Lopez, Malcolm Lee, Lavell Mann, and Tapia all delivered hits.
Previously, Kaiser won a 5-4 thriller over Norte Vista by scoring the winning run in the seventh inning.
Lopez had one hit and two RBI, while Ortiz, Ramos, and Mann added hits. Tapia and Andrew Nunez served on the mound.
