Sebastian Lizarraga waited for two hours to be the first person through the doors at the grand opening of Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers in the northeastern part of Fontana.
"I'm going to order the Combo Box and a chicken sandwich," said 14-year-old Lizarraga.
For being the first one in line, Lizarraga received a Cane's T-shirt, a "swag bag" and a voucher for a free Combo Box that he can redeem on his next visit.
Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, a Louisiana-based company, officially opened the new Fontana restaurant with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Feb. 12 at Sierra Avenue and South Highland Avenue.
The company was founded by Todd Graves, who had a vision of a restaurant that served the highest quality, freshest chicken fingers meals -- and nothing else. After being rejected for financing numerous times, he eventually was able to raise his own seed money and reconstructed an old building with his own hands into the first Raising Cane's restaurant.
Grave's entrepreneurial spirit, hard work and unrelenting vision has been recognized in Nations Restaurant News, Rolling Stone, and USA Today, and he was named an Ernst and Young "Entrepreneur of the Year."
As an active community partner, Graves and Raising Cane's have given more than 25 percent of their profits back to the communities where Raising Cane's restaurants operate.
Raising Cane's is located at 16988 South Highland Avenue in the new Highland Village Shopping Center, where several other businesses are also opening this year. The phone number is (909) 427-0455.
