Begin from Within, a youth and young adult intervention program, will be hosting a free “Family Matters Community Festival” on Saturday, Aug. 17.
The annual event, which is co-sponsored by the City of Fontana, will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jack Bulik Park pavilion area, located at 16581 Filbert Avenue in Fontana.
The festival is open to the public and all interested persons are encouraged to attend.
There will be live entertainment, free lunch, games, activities, contests, drawings, and giveaways.
Children will be able to enjoy the new addition of a Kid Zone with giant-sized games.
School supplies will be provided until gone.
Diana Martin, CEO/founder of Begin from Within said the event is strategically planned to:
• build relationships;
• promote awareness on public and private resources;
• provide an opportunity to meet and greet local dignitaries;
• encourage networking;
• empower youth to take part in community affairs;
• share ideas, creativity, and innovation in a public forum;
• and to have a fun-filled day in a diverse environment of equality.
Martin said that Begin from Within, a non-profit organization, aims to help youth ages 8-17 (on school campuses or churches) and adults ages 18-25.
Begin from Within holds workshops that are designed to empower participants with life skills in time management; prioritizing; organizing; effective communication; leadership; social media; career and college preparation; proper etiquette; and awareness/prevention about current issues such as bullying and entrapment, in order to help reduce the risk of youth becoming potential victims.
"The benefit of developing these skills will help our youth gain high self-esteem and become self-motivated," Martin said.
