A 26-year-old Fontana man was arrested for allegedly being involved in a speed contest on 4th Street and Buffalo Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

On Nov. 7 at 11:40 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department observed two vehicles stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, both vehicles engaged in a speed contest. One of the vehicles, a blue Nissan 350Z, spun its tires and fishtailed.

Deputies were able to conduct a traffic stop on that vehicle and identified the driver as Christian Gomez. After the investigation, Gomez was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center. Gomez’ car was impounded.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Rancho Cucamonga P.D. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can call the We-Tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463) or leave information at www.wetip.com.
