The Fontana Police Department will be conducting another DUI/driver's license checkpoint this weekend.

The checkpoint will take place on Saturday, Aug. 31 at an undisclosed location within the city limits between the hours of 8 p.m. and 3 a.m.

DUI checkpoints like this one are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests. Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment and will also be checking drivers for proper licensing.

Funding for this checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Would like to see a headline like, "Fontana PD does a first by having a checkpoint for tweakers on bicycles with backpacks full of tools and weapons". The meth problem is growing as they are unchallenged. Maybe I start offering free coffee in the ghetto so they will patrol more?

Tweaker checkpoints are my dream, but the NTSA doesn't kick down checks for that. Do our taxes pay for any protection that isn't driven by making money? At what point is enough money enough, use all those toys you buy to PROTECT US. What are we getting for our taxes?

Just want a police department that protects and doesn't just casually drive by tweakers and ignore them because it isn't more cash in the coffers.
