A murder investigation is being conducted at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

On Aug. 1 at 5:23 p.m., deputies assigned to Central Detention Center found an inmate unresponsive in a cell. The victim, a male adult who was not identified, was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased at 6:40 p.m.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives determined that Samuel Amador, an inmate at the location, coerced the victim into his cell and once inside, he allegedly murdered him.

The Riverside County Coroner's Office will conduct the autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Amador had been arrested on Aug. 24, 2013 and booked for murder, a parole violation and numerous misdemeanor charges.
