A man was arrested after he allegedly fired shots from a BB gun at motorists on Interstate 10 in Bloomington, according to the California Highway Patrol.

On Oct. 10 at about 10:45 a.m., Inland Communications Center began receiving multiple calls of a man standing on the right shoulder of westbound I-10, east of Cedar Avenue, pointing what appeared to be a handgun at passing traffic. He then began firing the weapon, which was later discovered to be a BB gun, at several passing vehicles.

Multiple vehicles were hit, shattering the windshield of one vehicle and causing exterior body damage to the others.

CHP units, along with additional allied agencies, responded and located the man, identified as Devhen Douglas Evans, a 29-year-old Rialto resident, standing on the right shoulder of the freeway. Evans dropped the weapon and attempted to flee on foot, the CHP said. He was immediately taken into custody without further incident.

Evans will be facing multiple felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
