The California Highway Patrol is investigating an incident in which a motorcyclist died in a traffic collision on April 26.

A motorcyclist died and his passenger was injured in a traffic collision in San Bernardino on April 26, according to a news release by the California Highway Patrol.

At about 7:05 p.m., a 52-year-old man from Homeland and his passenger, a 34-year-old Lakeside woman, were on a 2014 Harley Davidson heading west on Glen Helen Parkway, west of Cajon Boulevard, at an unknown speed.

For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle veered left across the eastbound lane and struck the metal guardrail. The collision caused major injuries to the driver and passenger. Both parties were transported to a local hospital.

The driver later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner’s Division.
