San Bernardino Police Department

The San Bernardino Police Department is investigating a traffic collision in which a person was killed on July 2.

One person was killed and two other people were injured in a traffic collision in San Bernardino on July 2, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.

At about 5:46 p.m., a Jeep Wrangler and a Dodge Dart were traveling northbound on Highway 18, just south of Upper Waterman Canyon Road.

The vehicles collided into each other, causing the Jeep to strike a nearby guardrail. The Jeep went airborne over the guardrail and down the side of the mountain.

A rear passenger in the Jeep was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene. The other two occupants of the Jeep sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital.

The driver of the Dodge Dart was uninjured.

The collision is still under investigation and it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
