A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in San Bernardino on June 9, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.

At about 8:34 p.m., a 62-year-old San Bernardino man was driving his 2008 Chevrolet Impala eastbound in the 2300 block of East Highland Avenue while at the same time a 42-year-old man, believed to be transient, was pulling a shopping cart in lanes of traffic.

The driver did not see the pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing at the time, and struck him with his vehicle, police said.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a factor in this collision; however, the collision is still under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Peck at (909) 384-5664.
