The Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Association, which brought the Proposition 13 property tax measure to California in 1978, will help the Redlands Tea Party Patriots celebrate their 10th anniversary on Sept. 5.

“It’s an incredible honor to have the fearless HJTA help us celebrate our 10th birthday,” said John Berry, spokesman for the Redlands Tea Party Patriots. “The liberals are always doing their best to torpedo Prop. 13, so September is a great opportunity to hear from the people who keep our property taxes from skyrocketing.”

For a decade, the Redlands Tea Party Patriots have fought for conservative candidates and issues through public meetings, market night booths, and neighborhood canvassing programs, Berry said.

“We’re planning an even more aggressive campaign for 2020,” Berry said. “The liberals will be thrilled.”

Speaking at the event will be HJTA President Jon Coupal, who defends Prop. 13 on radio and television as well in weekly newspaper columns.

The two-hour meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Mill Creek Cattle Co., 1874 Mentone Boulevard in Mentone. The meeting is free and open to the public.
