A suspect who allegedly assaulted a female victim was shot and wounded by a police officer in San Bernardino on July 6, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.
On July 6 at about 10:14 a.m., the Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a female reporting that she had been assaulted and was trying to get away from the suspect. Officers arrived on scene and requested medical aid for the female, and a search began for the assault suspect.
The suspect was later located in the area by a responding officer and the officer attempted to make contact with him. During the initial contact, the suspect allegedly did not comply and ran from the officer, police said.
A foot pursuit ensued and the armed suspect was shot by the responding officer, police said.
Medical aid was summoned and the suspect was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injuries. He was later identified as 33-year-old Joe Louis Dockery Jar, whose last known residence was in Ontario.
No other injuries resulted from this incident, police said.
