A 29-year-old Texas man was arrested and charged with felony violations of pimping and pandering of an adult, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
On Aug. 27 at about 2 p.m., investigators from the San Bernardino County Human Trafficking Task Force began an investigation after locating a possible human trafficking victim in an online advertisement in Ontario. Investigators initiated an undercover operation to contact and locate the victim, who was found in a motel room near the 1800 block of G Street.
Several hours of surveillance were conducted at the location and the adult victim, a 19-year-old woman from Texas, was contacted and positively identified. At the time of contact, the victim was alone and her trafficker was not located. The victim was provided access to resources to assist her and released from the scene.
Task Force investigators continued follow-up investigation the following morning, and they again found the victim being advertised online in Ontario. Believing the victim's trafficker had located and re-victimized her, investigators began a second undercover operation to locate and contact the victim.
The victim was later found in a motel room located in the 3400 block of Shelby Street. Surveillance was conducted in the area and investigators located a vehicle similar to one seen the day prior. Investigators continued surveillance of the vehicle and watched a lone male exit the motel, enter the vehicle and drive away. Believing the man was possibly involved with the victim, investigators and uniformed officers from the Ontario Police Department conducted a traffic stop a short distance from the location.
The driver, Corderic Johnson, was detained and questioned. Investigators learned Johnson had been in the vicinity of the investigation the day prior and was familiar with the victim. He was transported to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Station for further interview.
While investigators spoke with Johnson, other Task Force members contacted the victim at the motel and assured her safety. The victim was re-interviewed and provided services through a local support organization, which arranged for her return to Texas.
During the interview with Johnson, investigators discovered information supporting his alleged involvement in pimping and pandering of the victim. He was taken into custody and booked at West Valley Detention Center with a bail of $100,000.
This investigation is ongoing. Due to the interstate travel of the suspect, investigators believe there are other unidentified victims related to this case and are asking that anyone with information to contact the Human Trafficking Task Force at (909) 387-8400.
