Two children were killed in a traffic collision involving a car, a motorcycle, and a pedestrian at the intersection of 18th Street and Sierra Way in San Bernardino, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.
The preliminary investigation indicates that on Aug. 27 at 3:23 p.m., a car was traveling south on Sierra Way, followed by the motorcycle, at yet to be determined speeds. At the same time, a juvenile pedestrian was crossing Sierra Way at the intersection of 18th Street.
The car struck the pedestrian in the roadway, and the motorcycle then struck the passenger vehicle, ejecting the motorcycle operator and passenger.
As a result of the collision, the pedestrian, the motorcycle operator, and the motorcycle passenger suffered major injuries. All three individuals were transported to area hospitals.
The pedestrian and the motorcycle passenger later died of their injuries. They were identified as Jason Castellanos, 14, and Heather Durham, 10.
The motorcycle operator is currently listed in stable condition. The driver of the car was not injured.
