A 32-year-old woman was arrested on charges of child abduction, child endangerment, kidnapping, and felony evading, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.
On June 13 at about 10 a.m., the San Bernardino P.D.'s Dispatch received a call of possible child abduction. Officers responded to 1254 S Waterman Avenue.
Officers learned that the suspect, Doreidi Yesenia Perez Lopez, had previously lost custody of her children. On this day she was having supervised visitation from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. of her youngest daughter, who is 5.
At the end of the visitation, her daughter told the social worker that she needed to use the restroom. While Lopez was walking her daughter to the restroom, she grabbed her and ran to her vehicle and fled in a White Ford Focus, police said.
Lopez then picked up her other two daughters, ages 8 and 11, whom she did not have custody of, police said. Lopez told the girls they were going on vacation to the beach.
Officers responded to the area and began to search for Lopez and the children. Lopez’s vehicle was located in the downtown area of San Bernardino by investigating officers who attempted to stop Lopez and recover the children.
Lopez knew the police were behind her with their emergency lights and siren activated, police said.
After a short pursuit, Lopez pulled in front of another vehicle, resulting in a minor traffic collision, police said.
The children were safely recovered and taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. The children were then released to their custodial parent.
Lopez was taken into custody and booked into San Bernardino County Jail.
