A woman was killed and a man was critically wounded during a car-to-car shooting in San Bernardino on Oct. 30, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.
Officers responded to “E” Street and Orange Show Road at about 4:25 p.m. after a caller reported a shooting. When officers arrived, they located several vehicles involved in a traffic collision.
Officers found two victims inside a sport utility vehicle who had also suffered from gunshot wounds.
The driver, Chester Manning, 28, of Los Angeles was transported to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
Dahvajahna Ricks, 18, of Fresno was the front passenger and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect fled the location prior to the arrival of responding officers.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit determined that a shooting occurred when Alexy Cruz, 31, of San Bernardino allegedly opened fire on the occupants of the SUV. This caused the SUV to collide with another uninvolved vehicle in the roadway.
On Oct. 31, officers located Cruz in San Bernardino, and he was subsequently arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center on a murder charge. The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
