Detectives are seeking the public's help in finding an intruder who sexually assaulted a woman while she slept next to her husband in her residence in Riverside, according to the Riverside Police Department.

On Dec. 11 at about 2:40 a.m., officers responded to the 5800 block of Fair Isle Drive, located in the Sycamore Canyon neighborhood of Riverside, regarding a residential burglary.

When officers arrived, they learned the suspect entered the apartment and committed a sexual assault on a woman while she slept. This woke up the victim, who alerted her husband sleeping next to her, which caused the suspect to run out of the apartment, police said.

After an extensive search of the area, the suspect was not located.

The suspect was described as being about 35 to 40 years old, about 5 feet 4 inches tall, and between 180 to 200 pounds, with dark skin and short dark hair. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.

The victim collaborated with a sketch artist to develop a rendering of the suspect.
