Bloodmobile

The LifeStream Bloodmobile will be at Sunrise Ford in Fontana on Dec. 18 and then at the Fontana Police Department on Dec. 19.

There is an urgent need for blood donations this month, and Fontana residents can do their part by participating in blood drives that will be held in Fontana.

• A LifeStream blood drive is planned at Sunrise Ford, 16005 Valley Boulevard, on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors will receive a special edition “Star Wars” T-shirt. All donors have a chance to win a $500 gift card. Donors also receive free cholesterol screening and Gift of Life Donor Loyalty points that may be redeemed in the online donor store at www.LStream.org.

• Another blood drive is scheduled at the Fontana Police Department, 17005 Upland Avenue, on Thursday, Dec. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For appointments, contact Olga Hernandez at (909) 350-7758 or oahernandez@fontana.org or visit LStream.org/fpd/

Walk-ins are welcome. Participants are urged to drink plenty of fluids and to bring a photo ID with proof of age. Donors under the age of 17 must bring a signed LifeStream parental consent form.

According to LifeStream, healthy community residents are urged to come forward to replenish the local blood supply and help overcome what the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention has called the earliest start to the flu season in 10 years. Typically, the number of blood donations dips during the winter months; the early flu season further complicates satisfying demand for blood from local hospitals.
