A man and woman have been arrested in connection with a murder which took place in northeastern Fontana on Nov. 12, according to the Fontana Police Department.

The incident occurred on McWethy Drive at 7:45 p.m., when several callers reported hearing gunshots and saw a male victim on the ground bleeding in front of an apartment complex. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim was a 36-year-old Montclair resident.

On Nov. 13, investigators developed information which led to a traffic stop where the two suspects were arrested.

David Aviles, 44, of Fontana and Jessica Valdez, 36, of San Bernardino were booked at West Valley Detention Center on murder and conspiracy to commit murder charges.

----- ANOTHER SHOOTING INCIDENT occurred on Nov. 12 in the area of Citrus and Cherimoya avenues in the western area of the city.

At 8:15 p.m., a male victim was walking with a female when a vehicle pulled up next to them. The occupant yelled at the male victim and then fired a handgun. The victim was shot in the arm and abdomen.

The victim, a 23-year-old Fontana resident, walked to a nearby residence and summoned help. He was transported to an area hospital, where he underwent surgery and was expected to survive.

The investigation of this incident is ongoing.
