Senior Center

Police personnel and Santa Claus helped brighten the day for attendees at the Fontana Community Senior Center on Dec. 3.

Several members of the Fontana Police Department volunteered their time in order to help brighten the day for local senior citizens on Dec. 3.

For the fourth year, police personnel participated in a luncheon at the Fontana Community Senior Center by cooking and serving food and even washing dishes, according to Fontana P.D. media representative Jennie Venzor.

As they normally do, the seniors paid for their standard meal, but this time they received a special treat because they were served ribs by the Police "Barbecue Team." Officers started cooking the ribs at 5 a.m. in preparation for the noontime lunch.

Police also donated warm scarves and gave Christmas desserts to the attendees. Plus, Santa Claus showed up at the event and was happy to be available for photos.

"It’s nice to give back to our community, especially to our seniors," Venzor said.
