Miriam Ortiz, Fontana's new queen, has some big goals for the upcoming year.
"I want to be the best leader that I can be, and I want to be there for the young girls in our community," said Ortiz, after being crowned Miss Fontana 2019 at the annual pageant on June 15.
Ortiz, a second-year student at Cal State San Bernardino, also added that she "can't wait to bond with the girls" on the Miss Fontana court.
She will be joined by four princesses -- Sydney Lopez, Julyssa Palacios, Madalynn Flores, and Jackie Heredia -- along with Miss Ambassador Julianna Alvarado.
The contestants in the pageant were cheered on by hundreds of onlookers at the Fontana High School Auditorium.
Ortiz, who was sponsored by American Business Bank, is taking the title which was held this past year by Bryzeyda Santibanez.
----- ALSO, Serenity Hernandez was crowned Teen Miss Fontana during the pageant, taking the position held formerly by Jacqueline Higareda.
"I want to get close to the girls on the court, and I also somehow want to bring unity into this city," said Hernandez, who is a student at Jurupa Hills High School.
The members of her court are princesses Teresa Morales, Jacqueline Aguirre, Kaylei Moore, and Pauline Gomez, along with Teen Ambassador Evelyn Zamora.
Hernandez was sponsored by Fontana Water Company during the pageant, which offers scholarships to the winners.
