Three men were shot and another man was stabbed during an incident which included a police pursuit of a vehicle in southwestern Fontana in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 5, according to the Fontana Police Department.

One of the men in the vehicle, David Corral, 26, was arrested for allegedly being the shooter, police said.

At about 1 a.m., an officer patrolling the area of Cherry and Banana avenues heard multiple shots fired in the area.

The officer attempted to stop a Cadillac DeVille fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. A pursuit ensued, and during the pursuit the driver intentionally rammed another police unit, disabling it, police said.

The pursuit stopped after the vehicle lost its right front wheel on the Citrus Avenue overpass at Interstate 10.

The driver, Jose Quintanar, 30, was found to have a stab wound to his abdomen.

During the investigation, two other people were located and found to be victims of gunshot wounds.  The shooting and stabbing had occurred in the 14200 block of El Contento Avenue.

Detectives discovered a separate victim had checked himself into a local hospital for gunshots to his leg.

All victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment. One of the victims is in stable condition and two of them are in critical condition.

After further investigating, Corral, a passenger in the DeVille, was identified as the shooter. No additional suspects are outstanding in this case.  Quintinar was charged with assault for allegedly ramming the police vehicle.

The investigation by the Fontana P.D. still ongoing.
