The Fontana Police Department arrested two people during a shoulder tap decoy operation on Nov. 21.

Two people were arrested during a shoulder tap decoy operation in Fontana on Nov. 21, according to the Fontana Police Department.

The Fontana P.D. conducts shoulder tap operations several times each year. Under the program, a minor under the direct supervision of a peace officer will stand outside a liquor or convenience store and ask patrons to buy alcohol.

During the recent operation, four locations were visited and a total of eight subjects were contacted. Of the eight subjects contacted, two were arrested for allegedly purchasing alcohol for the minor decoy.

The penalty for furnishing alcohol to a minor is a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) through the department’s Alcohol Policing Partnership.
