A total of 7,923 Fontana residents have been infected with the coronavirus since the pandemic began earlier this year, and 105 persons have died as of Oct. 16, according to the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health.

In the county as a whole, 59,463 persons have tested positive and 989 have died.

After an increase in cases right after the Labor Day holiday in September, the rate of infections has declined this month, the county said.

----- COUNTY OFFICIALS are urging all residents to be tested for COVID-19. In Fontana, free testing takes place Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Jessie Turner Center, 15556 Summit Avenue.
