A suspect who allegedly tried to sexually assault a 61-year-old woman in Fontana on Sept. 16 was arrested after being found at an elementary school, according to the Fontana Police Department.

Alberto Suarez, 22, of Fontana was allegedly the man who assaulted the woman who was walking along the Pacific Electric Trail last month.

On Oct. 8, school officials at Oleander Elementary School notified the Fontana Unified School District Police Department of a suspicious man on the campus. FUSD officers quickly arrived and contacted Suarez and detained him. At no time did Suarez have contact with the students, authorities said.

FUSD Police notified Fontana P.D. detectives that they had detained Suarez, who had similarities to the person wanted for the Pacific Electric Trail assault.

Detectives contacted the victim and witnesses who positively identified Suarez as the suspect. Suarez will be booked into the West Valley Detention Center by detectives.
