Strong Santa Ana winds buffeted Fontana on Oct. 10 and 11, but city residents breathed easier when the gusts subsided on Oct. 12.
On Oct. 11, San Bernardino County firefighters responded to a small vegetation fire on Cherry Avenue, south of the Route 210 Freeway. The fire burned one acre but did not damage any structures.
On Oct. 10, a fire damaged two homes in the 9500 block of Palm Lane in eastern Fontana, and another fire burned 10 acres in the area of the 210 Freeway and Interstate 15 Freeway interchange in northwestern Fontana.
Several trees were knocked down throughout the city, including a large one in the front yard of a residence on Vine Street. No injuries were reported.
Some residents of Fontana experienced planned power outages because of the high wind danger, SoCal Edison announced. Thousands of people were affected by the outages throughout Southern California.
