The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on the southbound Interstate 15 Freeway in Fontana on July 7.

At about 2:11 p.m., a 29-year-old woman from Mira Loma was riding a 2013 Yamaha motorcycle on the Route 210 transition road to I-15, splitting between the No. 1 and 2 lanes, passing traffic at an unknown rate of speed, the CHP said.

For an unknown reason, the motorcycle collided with a white Toyota Corolla, driven by a 38-year-old woman from Rialto.

After this collision, the motorcyclist was ejected and slid into the No. 4 lane of southbound I-15 and was hit by a white Volvo tractor driven by a 52-year-old San Bernardino man. The motorcyclist immediately succumbed to her injuries.

Holiday traffic returning home from the High Desert area was jammed at the 210 Freeway and the southbound I5 interchange.

A SigAlert was issued at 2:20 p.m. for an unknown period of time.
