Traffic advisory

The Fontana Police Department issued a traffic advisory after a girl was struck by a vehicle in a "tragic accident" on Sept. 29.

A young girl died in a “tragic accident” in Fontana on Sept. 29, according to the Fontana Police Department.

At about 3:23 p.m., police received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision on private property in the 7300 block of Juniper Avenue.

A black Ford Expedition was towing a cargo trailer and driving out of the driveway onto Juniper. The victim, a juvenile female, was holding the gate open. The juvenile began to close the gate early, and the trailer collided with her, causing fatal injuries.

Officers and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded and attempted life-saving measures. Unfortunately, the juvenile was pronounced deceased at the scene and was not transported.

“It appears to have been a tragic accident,” police said in a news release.

—— ON SEPT. 30, a message was sent to students and their families from Wayne Ruble Middle School. Principal Anne-Marie Cabrales and Assistant Principal Tabatha Pachot said the school received sad news.

“One of our students, Ruby Narvaez, has passed away from a tragic accident at home. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Narvaez/Banuelos family,” the message said.

The Fontana Unified School District has a crisis team consisting of licensed marriage and family therapists, school counselors, and school psychologists, the message said.

“The crisis team has joined us in providing supports to all our students and staff to help them cope with this tragedy today,” the message said.

Wow. How insightful. More info about the traffic than about the tragic loss of this precious young life. Nothing about her big caring heart that was as big as the world or how much she loved and always cared for the younger children in the family. RIP little one.

My heart goes out to the family I didn’t get to meet Ruby but I wish I could have. My son lived in the home with Ruby and her family and he tell me how a wonderful princess she was. My son and her aunt was at my home in Pensacola when they called me at work and told me my heart was so broken because I wanted to meet her one day he would tell me how she would come and be messing with making him and her aunt laugh. I really wish I could have met her but god wanted her with him and I know she has gotten her angle wings because she was a wonderful special little girl. And her brothers and sister loved her and they miss her dearly. So y’all just keep her family and my son in prayer. Thank y’all for all the prayers.
