His family is saddened to announce that Alva Dale Radford, 88, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019 at 9:42 a.m. at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Fontana after a short illness.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Radford of Fillmore, UT, Wendy Radford, Eric Radford and his wife Karen; his grandchildren Michael Williams, Garrett Williams and his wife Teresa, Raquel Lunstrum (née Radford) and her husband Todd; his great-grandchildren Soren Williams, Peyton Lunstrum, and Brody Lunstrum; his beloved companion for the past nine years Karen Coleman; and his brother Fred and his wife Nadine, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline in 2007, his parents Joseph and Ethel, and his brothers Earl, Howard, and Kent.

Dale, as he was known to his friends, was born Aug. 18, 1931 in Pine Lawn, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis, and was a resident of Fontana since 1944. He was a graduate of Fontana Junior High and Chaffey High School in Ontario in 1949. Dale married Jacqueline Ward on Feb. 19, 1950 at Fontana Community Church on Sierra Avenue. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. After his honorable discharge and return to California, Dale joined the IBEW local 477 and worked as an electrician until his retirement.

Dale was an active member of the Fontana Community Senior Center since its opening in 2010. Dale had a big voice and an even bigger heart. He was a life-long dyed-in-the-wool Democrat and a man of great convictions and deep loyalties.

Graveside services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard in Riverside on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Staging Area 3, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Fontana Community Senior Center, 16710 Ceres Avenue, Fontana in the Courtyard the same day at 11:30 a.m.
