Carol Lee Ragan

Carol Lee Ragan

Carol Lee Ragan (neé) Kelly was born April 27, 1934 in Sebastopol, California.

The daughter of James and Juanita Kelly, she was blessed with two siblings, Barbara Marie and James Russell Kelly Jr. Carol graduated from Analy High School, Santa Rosa Junior College, Humboldt State, and later Azusa Pacific University.

She accomplished her life long dream in becoming a teacher and taught for the Fontana Unified School District for 37 years. Most of her years were spent in room 6, at Palmetto Elementary School. Carol's love of children and desire to prepare them for the journey of life were the deciding factors in her choice of careers. She was deeply loved by the children and well-respected by her colleagues.

While in Fontana, she met Daniel "Dan" Ragan who was also a teacher, and later became her husband, marrying on June 15, 1958 at the Mission Inn in Riverside. They were the proud parents of two children; Jefferey "Jeff" Ragan and Kelly Ann Ragan. Carol was a loving grandmother to her six grandchildren, Paige, Danielle, Alexis, Patrick, Matthew, and Emily.

Upon retiring from teaching, Carol and Dan were fortunate enough to travel with many of their dear friends. Being the devoted grandmother that she was, Carol enjoyed babysitting, shopping, going out to eat, and picking up the kids from school each day. This gave her purpose as well as countless hours of enjoyment. Mom taught us to live by the golden rule, to see the good in all people and mostly to love one another.

A committal service was held Thursday, Oct. 10 at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside.
