Helen Marie (Briggs) Brummett

Helen Marie (Briggs) Brummett

Helen Marie (Briggs) Brummett was born in North Carolina.

She was married to Willie (Bill) Brummett -- deceased 2/15/19 (divorced 1969; Helen never remarried); she had two daughters, Linda Jean Miller (Brummett) of Fontana and Debra Piantadosi (Brummett) of Riverside (husband, Frank Piantadosi); five grandchildren, Lisa Marie Miller, Florida, Michele Nicole Miller, Riverside, Trevor Von Malmberg, Riverside (wife, Amanda Hernandez- Malmberg), Nicole Celia Marie Matson, Redlands (fiancée - Todd VanWinkle), and Charles “Chuck” Purvis, Yucaipa (fiancée - Amy Heaton); and seven great-grandchildren, Maddy Verdin, Ayla Heaton, Seth Ridgeway, Alyssa Malmberg, Gavin Malmberg; Chuck “little Chuckie” Purvis, and Phoebe Matson; brothers Fred Briggs of Lakeview OR, and Gary Earl Briggs of Rancho Mirage. She was preceded by her parents Roland Fred Briggs and Sallie Kate Briggs (Whitaker), brother, Earl Briggs, and sister, Donnavee O’Leary (Briggs).

Helen was raised in Lakeview OR and moved to Barstow in 1951 and then to Fontana from 1952-2013, where she moved to Villa de Anza Assisted Living in Riverside in December 2013 until her death on Oct. 23, 2019.

Helen worked for several years at Otis Elevator in Cucamonga until the plant left California and then retired from Safetrans Systems in Rancho Cucamonga. She was a lead assembly person and took great pride in her workmanship.

Helen lived for her family; she was the matriarch and made friends where she went. She always lit up the room! Helen enjoyed her home and gardening; as well as feeding everyone. You could never stop by her house without getting a meal, soda, candy, and/or ice cream. She accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in 2003 and attended Harvest Christian Fellowship until she began serving at Calvary Chapel Rialto in July 2004. Helen was a true servant and took every moment to share her faith (the good news) and invite others to attend church with her. She was on the Welcome Committee at Villa de Anza and very active in her community. Helen passed away peacefully at Riverside Community Hospital with her family by her side.

Services will be held Saturday, 11/23/19 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Chapel Rialto, and a lunch reception with celebration of life will be held directly after church services at Villa de Anza Assisted Living, 5881 El Palomino Drive, Riverside, where we can share our stories and break bread. Lunch and refreshments will be served at noon; those who may have the desire to bring something -- desserts are welcomed! Also if you choose to send flowers, please send to Villa de Anza, not the church (flowers are not necessary; your presence is what we need). Please come join our family to honor and celebrate the life of our mother, sister, Grannie, and friend!
