In just a few short months, Gov. Gavin Newsom has already proven that he will lead his administration in a truly pro-family and pro-child manner.

As chair of the California Legislative Women’s Caucus, I am thrilled by the governor and first partner’s continued commitment to improving the lives of women, children and working families in California. I applaud the governor’s focus on helping improve the quality of life and budgetary bottom lines for families in our state in his May Revision of the 2019-2020 state budget.

As the May Revision further reinforces, the governor’s proposed state budget is a strong down payment on the future of California’s children and families. By increasing the amount of time that parents are able to bond with their young children after birth, by expanding access to child care and by removing tax burdens that directly impact women, Governor Newsom continues to prioritize children, parents and families and sets our state on a path that truly supports and empowers women.

As the June 15 constitutional budget deadline is about a month away, I will continue working with my legislative colleagues and the Newsom Administration to make these family focused priorities a reality.
