The weather was perfect for the participants when the City of Fontana hosted its 64th Annual Fontana Days Run on June 1.
Overcast skies provided some "June gloom" in the morning hours, and the runners enjoyed the mildly cool temperatures as they dashed down Sierra Avenue to the finish line in front of City Hall.
The event included a Half Marathon, 5K Run, 5K Race Walk, 5K Family Fitness Walk, and a Children's Dash.
The Half Marathon is known as the world's fastest Half Marathon because of the gradual downward slope of the course. There is an elevated drop of 2,125 feet from start to finish and because of this, most participants are able to record their personal record times in Fontana.
A sad moment occurred when one of the runners collapsed at the finish line due to a medical emergency. Race staff members started performing CPR on the man, and when an ambulance arrived several minutes later, the man was transported to a hospital. His condition was unknown.
