The Fontana Community Senior Center softball team was honored at a City Council meeting earlier this month.
The players were recognized for their excellent performance in June at the Pasadena Senior Games, where they took second place.
The Fontana team played five games, advancing to the championship round before enduring a one-run loss.
The team, comprised of local residents ages 55 and above, has been competing since 2012. City Councilmember Jesse Sandoval is one of the players.
Community Services Supervisor Tiffany Starks said the team, which practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 10 a.m. at Jack Bulik Park, is always looking for more participants. For more information, call (909) 854-5151 or visit seniors.fontana.org.
