Cars line up to participate in Lefty's Track Day at Auto Club Speedway.

Six area car clubs will be participating in the upcoming Lefty’s Track Day at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

This charity event provides an opportunity for community members to drive their own vehicle on the famous NASCAR two-mile oval track on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 3-7 p.m.

Participating car clubs include the West Coast Toyota Society, SoCal DeLorean Club, Fallbrook Vintage Car Club, Alpha MINIon Club, Corvettes of Temecula Valley, and SoCal Challengers. These clubs will drive around the track as well as have a designated area to display their cool cars.

The public is invited to come out to experience Lefty’s Track Day. Festivities include the opportunity to take photos in front of iconic Auto Club Speedway trophy, see the Speedway’s NASCAR show car, enjoy food vendors and other family-friendly activities.

For a $15 donation, the public can drive their car or truck on the track. For $20 per person, guests can buckle up for a fast ride in the official NASCAR Toyota Camry Pace Car. Passengers must be 18 years or older to go on a pace car ride.

All proceeds from track laps and pace car rides will benefit the Auto Club Speedway Foundation, which supports Lefty’s Reading Challenge, a program that encourages reading excellence from Southern California elementary school children and provides grants to local school libraries. Several Fontana schools have received grants because of Lefty's Reading Challenge in recent years.
