For the second year in a row, Javier Madrid achieved top honors in the Fontana Days Run.

"It was awesome," the Yucaipa resident said after easily winning the race with a time of 15:27 on June 1.

"I ran the Half Marathon last year and loved the race," he said. "I thought it was a very well-put-on event, and so this year I figured I would take my shot at the 5K, and I loved every moment of it, just like last year."

Brett Bernacchi, a 47-year-old resident of Phoenix, Ariz., came in second place with a time of 16:27. Mark Vishnevsky of Running Springs was third at 16:50 and Hared Perez of Moreno Valley was fourth at 17:37.
