The Fontana A.B. Miller football team stayed in contention for high honors in the Mountain Valley League by blasting Indian Springs, 35-6, on Oct. 18.

The Rebels, who scored all of their points in the first half, improved their record to 4-1 in the league and 6-3 overall. Their only league loss was to Moreno Valley, which is tied for first place with Vista del Lago.

Miller will conclude its regular season with a home game against Vista del Lago on Friday, Oct. 25.

Peter Coleman sparked the Rebels by completing 10 of 13 passes for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed 7 times for 48 yards.

Eduardo Zaragoza rushed 6 times for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also provided a big highlight by returning a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown.

DJ Jackson rushed 5 times for 29 yards and also was the top receiver with 4 catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. Luis Dominguez had 3 catches for 13 yards. Alberto Castaneda had 2 catches for 22 yards and a TD, and Oscar Fuentes Jr. had a 37-yard reception.

On defense, Castaneda and Tyrone Freeman intercepted passes and Medardo Sanchez had a sack.

Jackson made 6 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles. Manuel Vega had 4 tackles and 3 assists, Fuentes had 3 tackles and 3 assists, Freeman had 3 tackles and 2 assist, Jose Lopez had 2 tackles and 4 assists, Amour Cosey had 2 tackles and 1 assist, and Angel Millan had 1 tackle and 5 assists.

Cody Ruiz was successful on all 5 of his extra point attempts.
