The Ontario Fury professional soccer team got five goals from Adrien Perez and romped to an 11-2 victory over Turlock on Opening Night of the Major Arena Soccer League season on Nov. 30.
The Fury also benefited from three goals from Juan Carlos Gonzalez and a one goal, three assist performance from Tino Nunez in front of 2,057 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
Perez opened the scoring 3:07 into the first quarter on a pass from Nunez. Just over one minute later, it was Nunez who scored from an assist by newcomer Andrae Campbell at 4:15. Then it was a Gonzalez goal at 7:01, with another assist from Nunez.
Turlock cashed in a goal by Jorge Carmona, but Perez replied with a goal at 14:05 to give the Fury a 4-1 advantage after one quarter, and the home team proceeded to dominate the rest of the way.
In all, Ontario fired 24 shots on the Turlock goal, with nine different players getting on the score sheet with at least a point.
Fury goalkeeper Chris Toth, the reigning two-time MASL Goalkeeper of the Year, faced 15 shots, making 13 saves.
