Kaiser

Kaiser cheerleaders and players celebrate after the Cats routed Grand Terrace in a game earlier this year.  Kaiser will face Summit for first place in the Sunkist League standings on Friday, Oct. 18.

Two schools from Fontana will be battling for first place in the Sunkist League football standings on Friday, Oct. 18.

Kaiser (2-0 in the league, 7-0 overall) will face Summit (2-0, 6-1) in a sizzling matchup at the Fontana A.B. Miller field.

The 7 p.m. game between the two strong rivals will be streamed online by Fox Sports West.

Summit is averaging 38.8 points per game this season and has allowed 11.1 points per game. Kaiser is averaging 34.1 points per game and has given up 9.7 per contest.

Kaiser, which won the league championship last year (and went on to take the CIF crown), is led by quarterback Trey Tribble, who has passed for 643 yards and has rushed for 832 yards this season.

Gabriel Ortiz and Dustin Chaidez have been effective at the running back position for Kaiser, and Josiah Finnell is the team's leading receiver.

For Summit, Darrin Thomas is the top rusher with 748 yards and 9 touchdowns.

The SkyHawks use two quarterbacks -- Marquis Roby (who has thrown for 587 yards and 5 touchdowns) and Christian McDonald (421 yards and 5 TDs). Joshua Hornsby has caught 25 passes for 579 yards and 3 TDs.

Summit and Kaiser have been the most dominant teams in the league over the past decade, except for when Grand Terrace won the Sunkist title in 2017. Previously, Summit claimed the championship in 2015 and 2016, Kaiser prevailed in 2013 and 2014, and Summit was the No. 1 squad in 2011 and 2012. Kaiser came in first place every year from 2001 to 2010.
