Fontana residents had a special opportunity to watch professional basketball in their home town on Oct. 27.

The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario, an NBA G League team which usually plays its games at Citizens Business Bank Arena, came to the Jessie Turner Center in Fontana for a preseason game against the Salt Lake City Stars.

About 300 fans were in attendance at the event.

The game was a "was a welcome new energy in the community," said Ellen Turner, president of the Concerned Citizens for the Development of North Fontana.

She was excited to be able to watch the game and also afterward have her photo taken with Utah's 7-foot center, Willie Reed.

Some of the other fans in attendance included Vernal Townsend, Toni Hall, and Deborah Hall Lindsey of the Concerned Citizens for the Development of North Fontana.  The organization is coordinating Fontana's Miss Black Awareness Pageant, which will be held on Dec. 15 at the Cypress Center in Fontana.

The Clippers, who are affiliated with the Los Angeles Clippers, lost to the Stars, 103-100.
