The Jurupa Hills Spartans march onto the field prior to the start of a game earlier this season.

Seven Jurupa Hills players scored touchdowns as the undefeated Spartans trounced Rialto, 46-7, in the San Andreas League opener on Oct. 4.

The Jurupa Hills squad surged to a 33-7 lead at halftime and raised its overall record to 6-0.

Eric Marinez completed 4 of 8 passes for 93 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Spartans. Bryan Calderon caught 2 passes for 44 yards and a TD, Davieon Gambo had a 38-yard touchdown reception, and Miguel Rodriguez caught an 11-yard pass.

William English rushed 6 times for 45 yards and a touchdown. Sean McKenzie, Trayton Cooper, and Marinez all rushed for touchdowns, while Jordan Napier had a 21-yard run, Calderon had a 16-yard carry, and Gambo had a 12-yard run.

Jose Diaz kicked 4 PATs.

On defense, the Spartans were sparked by Kamron Randell-Taylor, who returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown.

Rodriguez had a fumble recovery and a 23-yard return, and he also caused a pair of fumbles. Matthew Newcomb, Isaiah Solis, and English all had fumble recoveries.

Rodriguez made 6 tackles and Newcomb, Leonardo Suarez, English, Daniel Hernandez, Jacob Padilla, and Justin Price each had 4 tackles. Andy Juarez had a sack and Steven Serna, Johnny Ramirez, and Philip Gaines each had a tackle for a loss.

Jurupa Hills will play at home against Rim of the World on Friday, Oct. 11.
