The Southridge Little League baseball all-stars, helped by a great overall performance by Anthony Pardo, obtained a 14-2 win over Fontana Elks Lodge in their first game of the District 71 Major Division (11-12) tournament on June 24 at Bill Martin Park in Fontana.

Pardo blasted a home run, double, and single and scored three runs while up to bat, and he also pitched effectively.

Also for Southridge, Anthony Romero slugged a home run and two singles and Elias Cruz clobbered a home run and single. Ashton Ramos acquired two singles and scored three runs.

In an earlier game, Fontana Community edged Fontana American, 2-1.

The pool play tournament, involving teams from Fontana and Rancho Cucamonga, will continue at Bill Martin Park through next week.

----- MEANWHILE, the District 71 pool play tourney for ages 9-10 is being played at Village Park in Fontana.

The host Southridge team won its opener by a 5-3 score over Fontana American in the 9-10 division.

In addition, Elks Lodge romped past Rancho, 17-7, and Fontana Community won a thriller against Citrus, 10-8.
