Thanks in part to another terrific defensive performance, the Summit High School football team raised its record to 2-0 in the Sunkist League by crunching Colton, 37-0, on Oct. 11.

It was the second straight shutout for the SkyHawks, who conquered Bloomington, 50-0, the previous week.

The SkyHawks (6-1 overall) will host Kaiser (7-0 overall, 2-0 in league) in a duel for first place in the standings on Friday, Oct. 18 at Fontana A.B. Miller High School.

Darrin Thomas carried the football 15 times for 158 yards and a touchdown to spearhead the offensive attack against Colton.

Marquis Roby completed 7 of 15 passes for 78 yards and a TD, while Christian McDonald had 4 completions in 6 attempts for 55 yards and also rushed 5 times for 14 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Joshua Hornsby had 7 receptions for 62 yards and Nayati Hendrix had 2 catches for 58 yards.

The defense was led by Devean James, who recovered 2 fumbles, caused a fumble, and blocked a punt. James finished with 4 solo tackles and 5 assists.

Tobias Williams recovered a fumble and returned it 29 yards. Jabari McMillon also had a fumble recovery and Sean Badibanga caused a fumble. Jesse Bradberry and McMillon each knocked down 2 passes and Eric McCraney III, Hornsby and James all knocked down 1 pass. McCraney, Donovan Conner, and Marcellus Mason each had 2 sacks and Samuel Armenta had 1 sack.

Badibanga had 4 tackles, while Thomas had 2 tackles and 2 assists. Bradberry, McMillon, and Conner all had 2 tackles and 1 assist and McCraney had 1 tackle and 4 assists.

Mads Rodes kicked 4 of 5 extra points.
