Fontana A.B. Miller High School achieved its first-ever victory in Mountain Valley League football competition to highlight local action on Sept. 21.

Miller scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to gain a 34-26 triumph over San Bernardino, enabling the Rebels to raise their record to 1-1 in league play and 2-4 overall. They will host Rubidoux on Friday, Sept. 28.

Deandre Richardson rushed for 130 yards in 13 carries and scored 2 touchdowns for the Rebels, while Jonathan Reyes gained 120 yards in 9 attempts.

DJ Jackson carried 11 times for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns. Eduardo Zaragoza added 58 yards in 13 tries as Miller piled up 374 rushing yards.

Cody Castaneda threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Isaul De La Torre.

Anthony Munoz kicked two PATs and Jackson ran in for a two-point conversion.

Defensively, Justin Gonzalez made 6 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles. De La Torre had 3 tackles and 5 assists. Miles Sparks, Jackson, and Oscar Fuentes each made 3 tackles, and Eric Lawson had 2 tackles and 2 assists.

De La Torre, Jose Lopez, and Gonzalez each had tackles for losses. Isaiah Valles blocked a field goal.

----- IN ANOTHER GAME involving a Fontana team, Jurupa Hills suffered its first loss of the season by a 44-21 score against Patriot. The Spartans are now 4-1 at the end of non-league competition and will get ready for their San Andreas League opener at Rim of the World on Sept. 28.

----- THE OTHER Fontana schools -- Kaiser, Summit, and Fontana -- had byes on Sept. 21 and will now begin their Sunkist League seasons. Summit will host Colton on Thursday, Sept. 27 and Kaiser will visit Fohi on Sept. 28.
